Metamorphic Antique Side Table
Metamorphic Antique Occasional Table: An exceptional 19th century French metamorphic occasional table, the marble top within a pierced brass gallery above a frieze housing a single drawer flanked by a pair of adjustable hidden slides for candlesticks (or glass of wine) supported on four tapering reeded columns with ormolu capitols, joining a shaped pierced stretcher with twisted ormolu raised on out-swept legs with ormolu claw feet. The circular miniature marble shelf which in its stowed position is housed on top of the stretcher, comes out to move to its upper position centred in the circular marble top to form a dumb waiter. This is a truly remarkable quality table in excellent condition.
Circa: 1880
