Wallrocks is proud to curate an impressive collection of genuine antique console tables, all of which have been hand sourced by us overseas and imported into Australia for their fine quality and authenticity and restored according to specific client requirements.
Antique console tables have an interesting history, and are believed to be of French and Italian origin. The homes of aristocracy across England, France and Italy house magnificent examples of 17th and 18th century antique console tables resplendant with the finest gilt-wood carvings and marble inlay and Pietra Dura. Our collection comprises examples for the end of the 18th century through to the late 19th – most fine quality 19th century copies of their original 17th and 18th century forebears. The origin of the name ‘console’, was derived from the ‘s’ shaped bracket known as the console used to attach the console to the wall. Often made in pairs, they were designed as magnificent decoration for entries, halls and living spaces. So practical were they in design, they’ve stood the test of time and are used throughout home design still today.
Our showroom is open for viewing our collection of antique console tables Monday to Friday and at the weekend by appointment. We are conveniently located just 20 minutes from Brisbane Domestic airport, and 10 minutes North of the CBD.
