Early 19th Century Antique Console Table: Good quality 19th century antique console or side table, the original figured cherrywood plank top above a frieze with carved fluting houses two compartments with faux drawer fronts that open to the right and left to reveal a compartment in each, raised on four turned faceted legs with later block feet. This is common and acceptable for this model of side table, as they typically sat in damp conditions.
This antique console table is a lovely country house piece of furniture, more formal than simple farmhouse furniture and more relaxed than a formal town house. The pale colouring in the timber and lovely faceted corners on the legs with small carved mouldings to each corner and testament to its lovely quality and origins.
