After an exciting four days exhibiting at The Sydney Fair – Antique Art Deco Vintage, we’re making our way back to Brisbane. The fair brought together some of the best dealers in Australia to exhibit everything from 19th century antiques, Art Deco, vintage and contemporary art and jewellery and there were some truly beautiful things on offer – in fact we purchased a few gorgeous pieces for our own private collections.

Wallrocks took a 6 x 9m island stand and it was great to have the space to divide our pieces into rooms settings and show off the fabulous quality and wow factor of antiques furniture. Our stand had a different feel to our traditional displays, with a stunning 20 seater dining room setting paired with a Katherine Martin rug loaned to us from Designer Rugs, decked out with 19th century crystal chandeliers that combined, packed a huge punch. It was entirely eclectic, with a real mix of antique Art Deco vintage and even a splash of contemporary.

Our Art Deco themed living room, showed off the most beautiful tulipwood and brass drinks cabinet to its full potential, and was paired with a pair of silk velvet and mahogany armchairs, marble and ormolu lamps and crystal glass-wear.

Around the corner, our 19th century oak bookcase was stripped back to its bare bones, and juxtaposed against a pair of drums supporting glass coffee table surface, colourful vintage car and the huge pair of stunning walnut open armchairs recently re-upholstered in a beautiful silver fabric – the original brass studs were re-attached around the base of each chair.

Finally, we had mixed feelings when we farewelled our beloved and spectacular pair of carved horse sculptures which took pride of place on their new stands at the front of the stand. A very lovely gentleman snapped them up for a statement in the entry to his beautiful Art Deco home.
