Watch our latest video of a fine 19th century French marquetry side cabinet from our collection.

We have many beautiful antique side cabinets and sideboards in our collection, however this particular cabinet is quite extraordinary in its form and detail. Wallrocks recently restored this cabinet using traditional methods, completely in keeping with the period in which it was from, cleaned and re-polished by hand and we think the result is remarkable.

The original breakfront marble top is bordered by a fine quality ormolu border above a geometric marquetry frieze. Each of these designs in made from a myriad of beautiful and exotic timbers including Purple-heart, Mahogany, Kingwood, Satinwood, Tulipwood and more. The central panelled doors are flanked by equally fine quality figured walnut sides and solid inlaid Purple-heart pilasters on platform base. It is also worth noting the inlaid sides with beautiful hand-drawn penwork which adds depth and texture to the design.

This cabinet was in extremely good original condition and as such required only gentle cleaning.
