Take a walk through some of the more exciting pieces in our antique furniture shop from our recent European container. Our beautiful freshly restored and upholstered antique furniture has just arrived back having been rejuvenated and I’ve managed to climb over the photographer, piles of paper and camera cords to my desk to start the process of sorting photos and descriptions for the big upload. A major process always to make sure everything is website ready, it does fill me with satisfaction on these rare occasions that the antiques we’re uploading are actually restored!

Photography days are chaos at Wallrocks, with antique furniture strewn from one end of the building to the other in an effort to make space for the photographer. Given we don’t even have enough space for the furniture on a normal day, this is always rather a challenge but one that somehow we manage to meet.
I think this little group of antiques is particularly eclectic and interesting with Arts and Crafts architectural antiques thrown in with formal inlaid Italian and re-purposed Anglo-Indian.
Our Antique Warehouse: My own personal favourite in the warehouse at present is this group of antique furniture is undoubtedly this French empire walnut console table. A very early piece, circa 1810, what I particularly love is the 18th century marble that has been used for the top which is evident from the thickness, the wear around the under-edge and the imperfection of how it’s been cut…slightly thicker in the centre and tapering to a fractionally thinner edge at the end. What does this mean? This fabulous lump of marble has been carved out by hand. The ormolu mounts are particularly lovely.
Next of the top picks is this fabulous large pair of Arts & Crafts iron gates. Each weighs an absolute tonne – with the white paint removed to take them back to their original deep charcoal grey we think they’d be a great statement at the front of a beautiful home.
We also think this coffee table is a beauty. We took four original 19th century silvered Anglo-Indian ornaments and added two glass shelves to make the most wonderfully large glass coffee table.
And then of course the reality is that all the other pieces of antique furniture were rather lovely as well, so really picking favourites always turns out to be a very difficult job indeed. Simply click on the image to enquire about any of these pieces.
