Important French Parquetry Side Cabinet Stamped Bettenfeld
Exhibition Quality Cabinet Bettenfeld: A 19th century French cabinet by Bettenfeld Paris, the original moulded breakfront marble above a mahogany frieze with ormolu flutes, olive leaves and flowers housing a single drawer over a cupboard with a pair of doors unusually panelled on the front and reverse side, the front with cross-banded parquetry flanked by canted corners and parquetry side panels profusely embellished with ormolu acanthus, roses, olive leaves terminating in stylised ormolu acanthus feet. This cabinet is of remarkable quality both inside and out and is one of the finest pieces Wallrocks have imported in 45 years of trading. The original model of this commode is attributed to Riesener.
