French Antique Parquetry Queen Size Bed
French Parquetry Antique Bed: Very fine 19th century French Louis XVI parquetry queen size antique bed, the carved and gadrooned shallow arched edge moulding above a carving of gilded oak leaves surrounding an fine kingwood parquetry panel flanked by a pair of tapering fluted columns carved with gilded acanthus leaves. Unusually, and as testament to its superior quality this bed is joined by a pair of original parquetry and moulded side rails. One would typically expect the rails to be solid mahogany…the fact that the cabinetmaker has gone to the additional trouble of parquetry is suggestive of its quality.
