Browse our fine quality collection of genuine 18th and 19th century antique seating. All pieces are in original condition and are supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity and prices include restoration – exclude upholstery. We have a significant range of designer fabrics from all over the world to choose from and we work closely with our clients to help them achieve a finished result that works in harmony with their existing interior. Possibly one of the most exciting categories of furniture from a restoration point of view, the transition from original condition to restored can be quite breathtaking. The addition of fabric to a piece has the potential to transform an antique and bring it from one century into another and ensure it’s longevity and relevance into the future.Â
Our antique seating ranges from antique armchairs, settees, stools, duchesse brissees and day beds in a variety of styles including Louis XV, Louis XVI, French Empire, Regency, Victorian and more.Â
One of the earliest forms of antique seating was the stool, as evidenced during the excavation of the tomb of King Tutankhamun. Interestingly, despite the huge variety of seating that has evolved throughout the ages, they were all derived from the stool, bench and chair. It was not until the 17th century that the emphasise shifted from form to function and antique seating took a new direction toward comfort.Â
Our showroom is located just north of Brisbane City, and is open to the public during normal business hours Monday to Friday and by appointment at the weekend.
