19th Century English Jewellery Table
19th Century English Jewellery Table: Very fine 19th century English jewellery table, the shaped ebonised and amboyna top with string and foliate inlays surrounding a central inlaid scene depicting books, olive leaves, ink well and pen and roses which lifts to reveal a looking glass and compartmentalised satinwood and purple-heart interior with a single drawer supported on four turned string inlaid legs joined by a shaped stretcher terminating on four feet. The subject matter of the inlay on this table suggests it was made for an educated household where learning was of great importance to those that lived within. This table is also suitable to use as a miniature writing table.
