English Mahogany Antique Breakfront Bookcase
English Mahogany Antique Breakfront Bookcase: A very fine English mahogany antique breakfront bookcase of substantial proportions. The heavily moulded breakfronted architectural pediment, above matching open book or display cases with adjustable shelves, centred and flanked by flat split columns surmounted by pairs of carved corbels. The centre column opens to reveal a secret shelved compartment. The top section is supported by a frieze above six turned columns separated by pairs of well panelled doors enclosing cupboards, raised on a shaped plinth. Clearly the cabinet maker has expended considerable effort in the selection of timber to create a fine decorative effect.
