19th Century French Antique Louis XVI Bed

A fine French antique Louis XVI bed with marquetry and parquetry inlaid panels the moulded mahogany pediment top with tulipwood cross-bandings above a panel of ormolu swags and pierced greek key over a geometric fiddle-back panel, repeated on the footboard but flanked by a pair of inlaid boxwood wreaths. Price includes cleaning and re-polishing.

The bed is a wonderful example of fine quality inlay-work characteristic of late 19th century French craftsmanship.

This piece has been carefully sourced and restored, making it ideal for use as a statement bed in both traditional and contemporary interiors. Suitable for a Standard Australian queen-size mattress with custom slats or base.

As part of restoration, we can clean and gently re-polish and or wax this piece of antique furniture depending on your individual taste. Our French polisher has been with us for 40 years, and does everything by hand. No spray guns, and no nasty polyurethane sprays. Polishing allows the grain of the piece of furniture to become evident once again, and waxing provides a soft glow, however there is also the option to keep the piece in totally original condition if this is your preference.
