1930s Art Deco Bed with Inlay: Very fine quality early 20th century French Art Deco 1930s bed in queen size, the shaped and stepped figured amboyna headboard with gilded bronze mount in the form of an eagle inlaid with kingwood cross-bandings joining original side rails connecting a shaped panelled footboard with central inlaid marquetry panel with ormolu mount flanked by opposing inlaid mother of pearl flowers creating a symmetrical and structured surface typical of Art Deco design.

The design reflects the restrained, architectural qualities of the Art Deco movement, with clean lines and emphasis on form rather than over-ornamentation. Subtle inlay and tonal variation within the book-matched veneers provide detail while maintaining a streamlined appearance.

A well-proportioned example of French Art Deco furniture, suitable for a queen-size mattress and adaptable to both traditional and contemporary interiors. Available from our Australian collection of antique beds.

Our French polisher has been with us for 40 years, and does everything by hand. No spray guns, and no nasty polyurethane sprays. Polishing allows the grain of the piece of furniture to become evident once again, and waxing provides a soft glow, however there is also the option to keep the piece in totally original condition if this is your preference.
