Tables

Fine Antique Tables – Wallrocks have a significant collection of fine quality genuine antique tables, which we hand source in an array of styles and sizes, ranging from Louis XV, Louis XVI, Regency, Georgian, Empire etc, and whilst some may look similar, no one is identical. From the simple dining tables, to the more elaborately decorated pieces, Wallrocks has a table to suit almost every need.

The term table originates from the Latin ‘tabula” which means ‘a plank, or flat top piece’. This term does not however illustrate the skill and craftsmanship that has gone into making these fine antique tables.

Many of our marquetry tables are highly decorated with exotic timbers in romantic or musical scenes, the colours exquisite under all of the dirt and grime.  Rarely is it a disappointment to see what lies underneath when the restoration process begins. For tables with the addition of metal or ormolu embellishment, each individual mount is painstakingly removed and cleaned before the tireless task of re-attaching can begin.

A beautifully hand-made antique dining table becomes the heart of a home where families are able to enjoy good food and conversation together, whilst an ornate antique writing table can offer a luxurious feel to any home or work office. Our extensive range offers tables both great and small, from an Imperial Action five leaf polished dining table, to our smallest nests of occasional tables, with games tables, centre tables, writing tables and coffee tables in between. We delight in being able to offer such fine quality, practical and long lasting furniture to our Australian clientele.

An example of our recent fine antique table restorations can be seen in the attached gallery.

The previously hidden intricate quarter matched figured grain in the burr walnut top creates an eye catching pattern now that the piece has been cleaned.
